Lourdes' Day was June 26, 2021!

June 26, 2021, was Lourdes’ Day at Canterbury School in New Milford, CT. Fifty-six alumni and prospective pilgrims from around the states came together for a day of fun, service, prayer, and reflection.

Prayer and Reflection Time

Reflection was a powerful time to share about our time during the pandemic and the impact Lourdes has had on our lives.
It was beautiful to see the lines for Confession during Adoration. We had a beautiful Mass celebrated by Fr. Carlos Rodrigues and Fr. Bob Dunn. Alumnus Eli Taylor coordinated the Liturgy and cantored.  Alumnus Matt Houle wrote the Lourdes’ Day Prayer. His sister drew the lovely image of the Blessed Mother.

Canterbury school

The brand new Steers Center was a wonderful space for all the parts of our day! And the Chapel of our Lady was right next door!

Create Cards

Create Cards and notes of support and love to go with the lunches and care packages  If you can't be with us in person, why not make a bunch ahead of time and send them along?

Bake Treats

​Bake and individually wrap home-baked treats for the Grab and Go Lunches - no nuts please. These are so appreciated by the grab and go guests.

collect old phones

​Collect old cell phones (without the sim card and reset) for the Women's Shelter of Danbury. Old cell phones can still be used to make 911 calls. ​

collect donations

Have a drop box or hold a drive for others to donate supplies to those in need (socks, personal care items, gently used backpacks, school supplies, and nonperishable food items)

Lourdes' DAY SERVICE PROJECTS

grab & Go lunches

Get your sandwich making skills ready for Loaves & Fishes  and Camilla's Cupboard.  We will be making Grab and Go Lunches. 

 ​Individually wrapped home-baked treats are so appreciated! We encourage you to get out that mixing bowl and apron to add that touch of love!

Creating through art and crafts allows for engaged learning and expression. It can be very healing and is a great esteem booster. 

Nursing home residents

We will be preparing two crafts for the Village Crest Nursing Home 

women's shelter

We will be making painting kits for the Danbury Women's Shelter

We will prepare backpacks with activities and comfort items.

SELF-CAre for HEALING

We will be creating self-care packs for the women & backpack care packages for the children at the Greater Danbury Women's Shelter

Knotting rosaries is one of our favorite things to do in Lourdes during our down times... along with playing cards and laughing. Twine will be available for all. We will be including rosaries in our care packages.
